3 - Tokens (Virtual Card Numbers)
It is possible to send tokens instead of real PANs.
Tokens are 16 digits long with digits 2 to 6 being 99999, e.g. 4999997698764321. The first digit is the same as in the real card number. Tokens are not based on the real card numbers, so there is not possible to "decode" them to extract the real card number behind the token. They can only be used for merchant agreements with the same "kennitala" (National ID) that was submitted when requesting the token and can only be used within the Valitor system.
Web service SkilaSyndarnumeriUtFraKortnumeri returns a token for the submitted PAN. When transmitting a batch with tokens, this service must be called first, because an attempt to send a real card number will result in an error.
In other words, a transmission defined as a token batch can only include tokens.
